About Me- Christine Maness
My Passion
The privilege of caring for plants for over 30 years is humbling. I have had the pleasure of receiving cuttings off 50 year old plants and treat them like small children. Watching a seed or cutting grow and develop is a joy and blessing from God.
My Background
I am a mother of 5 amazing kids and an extended family of 3 more fantastic kids plus all their spouses. Also, a blessed Grandma of 3 and blessed by 4 via extended family so 7 total.
My former life I was a Corporate Retail Manager for 30 years. Since I was not ready to retire, I am now working for
California Social Services Dept.
No matter how busy, your life gets there is always time for God, family and plants.
On many occasions, I have gone outside and gardened by floodlight or flashlight. I have stayed up half the night to watch night-blooming flowers.
I have cried when a plant dies and yelled when mealy bugs infest. It's all part of the gardening experience and I wouldn't trade it for the world no matter how chaotic, hectic or stressful people say it is.
I have had the fantastic experience to complete the UC CA Master Gardener Program in 2022 and I am so excited to learn even more and help people. Teaching people at public events is a thrill.
My point of view
Many people will tell you that you don't need more plants...I will argue that point happily. I belong to plant clubs, and we do quarterly free trades and all my neighbors love cuttings. Get plants that bring you joy, challenge or feed you is amazing.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
